It was a great week of basketball for those who attended to my Top 30 Elite Summer camp at Ecole Wascana Plains school. First of all, I want to thank my wife Amanda, Dan Farthing (Level 10), Coach Kira (Level 10), Karen and all the other parents and players who helped me and supported me to establish my very first summer camp project in Regina.

All the girls who participated this camp worked very hard and I know that they also enjoyed every second of this new experience. Hope to see you all next year for the second edition of my summer camp! Good luck with your upcoming basketball season everyone!

TOP 30 ELITE SUMMER CAMP (2018)

“TRAIN LIKE A PRO!”

The Top 30 Elite Summer Camp is home to players who seek to improve, develop and transform themselves into better athletes, more highly skilled players and more versatile competitors as they prepare for the highest levels of the game. Girls entering grades 9 to 12 are invited to participate in five action-packed days of basketball drills, games and competitions.

In an effort to further support player development, this camp also offers a fantastic Strength and Conditioning opportunity with Sport Performance Specialists from Level 10 Fitness. Committed players elevate their on court performance with dedication to learning and practicing the technical and tactical elements of basketball. For these players, competitive performance is taken to an even higher level when strength and conditioning elevates the execution of technical and tactical skills with improved speed, power, agility, strength and fitness. For any player who aspires to be the best she can be, a strength and conditioning program is an absolutely essential element in this journey.

TOP 30 ELITE SUMMER CAMP INFORMATION

WHO:               Grades 9 to 12 (Entering Grade 9 to 12)

DATES:            August 27 – 31, 2018

TIMES:             5 – 9 PM

LOCATION:      Ecole Wascana Plains School, (5125 East Green Brooks Way, Regina, SK S4V 3H2)

FEES:              $400 (can be paid via cash, e-transfer or post-dated cheque)

WHAT TO BRING: Basketball, Towel and Extra T-Shirts

 

SAMPLE DAILY PRACTICE PLAN

5:00 – 7:15 PM              Basketball Training with Coach Fatih and Coach Amanda

7:15 – 7:20 PM              Water Break and Rest

7:20 – 8:50 PM              Strength & Conditioning Training as well as Speed, Power, and Agility Training with Sport Performance Specialist from Level 10 Fitness

8:50 – 9:00 PM              Cool Down and Stretching

 

BASKETBALL TRAINING INFORMATION

BALL HANDLING & DRIBBLING

  1. Teaching Dribbling Techniques (Half/Full Court)
  2. On the Spot Ball Control (One hand/Two hands)
  3. Off the Dribble Ball Control (One hand/Two hands)
  4. Teaching Dribbling Under Pressure
  5. Teaching the Difference Between Control and Attacking Dribbles

PASSING & CATCHING  

  1. Learning Types of Passes and Improve Catching Abilities
  2. Teaching How to Get Open (Footwork and body control techniques)
  3. Pass Fakes and Meeting with the Ball
  4. Teaching Communication Between Passer and Receiver

SHOOTING

  1. Footwork and Body Positioning
  2. Shooting Fundamentals (Hand, Arm and Shoulder positioning)
  3. Spot – up
  4. Off the Dribble
  5. Off the ball (Moving without The Ball – Spacing)

PICK & ROLL

  1. Teaching How to Position on the Floor (Side pick, Middle pick, Corner pick, etc.…)
  2. Body Control and Dribbling Techniques
  3. Teaching Decision Making and Options
  4. Finishing Around the Hoop After Using Pick/Rolls (Using 3v3 and 4v4 Situations)
  5. Passing Options and Passing Techniques (Using 3v3 and 4v4 Situations)

REBOUNDING

  1. 1v1 Introduction of Tag, Square Up and Box-Out Techniques
  2. 1v0 Introduction of Offensive Rebounding Techniques

INDIVIDUAL & TEAM DEFENCE  

  1. Introducing Body Movement
  2. Teaching How to Play 1v1 Full Court Defence (Aggressive and Passive)
  3. Teaching Close – Outs (Closeouts to Check Positioning, Ball Pressure Stance, Jump to the Ball in Stance, Vision of Ball, Closing the Holes with Body (Early Help/Quick Recovery in Closeout))
  4. Teaching How to Play Half/Full Team Defence (3v3, 4v4 and 5v5)
